The Winkopp heritage is German.  Joest Wennkauff is the oldest known ancestor on the Winkopp side, born in 1550. All descendants until Walter Winkopp were born in Germany.  Franz Josef Alfred Winkopp emigrated to Williamsburg in 1868.

The name changed many times over the years. The direct Winkopp line is: Walter Michael Windsor, Walter Winkopp, Franz Josef Alfred Winkopp, Adolf Winkopp, Peter Adolf Winkopp, Sigismund Ignatius Wincopp, Wilhelm Heinrich Wincop, Johann Mathias Wincop, Joducus Wincop, Johan Wynkops, Joest Wennkauff.

Walter Winkopp’s mother, Caroline Blumlein, was born January 22, 1859 in Brooklyn, New York.  Her father, John Christian Blumlein, was born in Freinsheim, Germany in 1819; he emigrated to New York in 1842.

So, Walter Michael Windsor’s paternal great grandparents both emigrated to the US from Germany.

The Catoggio heritage is Italian and German.  Francesco Catoggio is the oldest known ancestor on the Catoggio side, born between 1690 and 1720 in Armento, Italy.  Michele Catoggio emigrated to New York in 1883.

Helen May Catoggio’s mother, Clara Wilhlmina Ritter, was born in Attenberg, Germany on January 22, 1875; she emigrated to New York in 1883.
